Description
For your consideration is a GORGEOUS antique hand-painted 2-PIECE miniature-portrait under-glass jewelry set, consisting of a pendant/brooch, and a pair of earrings, with seed pearls.  We believe these to be genuine antiques--the pearls are hand-set in the frame. They have the sheet of solid gold on the underside of the portrait, and the pearl studs connected at the top of the earrings have the old style screw posts and backs.  I have shown a photo from the
Warman's Antique Jewelry
resource book I use, which shows a similar style of portrait brooch, front and back.  The locking pin stem on ours was most likely added at a later time, so that it would not show when being worn as a pendant (the Victorian pin stems protruded past the side of the brooches).
All of that being said, this is a very nice set with a lot of gold weight--it weighs 18.5 grams and is in excellent vintage condition.
The subject depicted in the portrait appears to be the same woman in pendant and earrings.  Very pretty, brown hair with bows, pearl necklace, off-the-shoulder dress--she's framed under glass.  Tiny seed pearls are hand-set around the border, with crisp milgrain detail, and Etruscan bead work inside the border, as well.  Scroll work finishes off the edges of the pieces.  A watch-pin style "bail" is affixed to back of brooch to hold a chain.  I've shown this on a thick mesh chain in the photos for size reference.  CHAIN IS NOT INCLUDED.
The earrings are done in the same exact style as the pendant/pin.   A pearl stud with screw back post is mounted at the top of each earring.
The pendant brooch measures 1 3/8" by 1".  All gold tests positive for 14k.  The earrings measure 1 1/4" from top of pearl to bottom, by 3/4" across.  This beautiful antique set weighs a hefty 18.5 grams and is in excellent vintage condition.
