Description
I think this is late 1940's era or early 1950's - I'm not sure; NO tags. I'll give you measurements as I don't know size (I'm no expert on kid's clothing): About 12" across shoulder top from sewn points arm to arm, sleeve nearly 14 3/4" long; coat about 24" long; when buttoned, narrowest width at waist is about 12"; length on leggings are about 24" (without straps). This set is darling and in NEAR MINT to EX condition, commensurate with age: I can only find a bit of wear on a few buttons on little velvet insets and the 3 use buttons (that go into holes) are also a bit loose, also there are two grayish marks on back of one arm, near elbow area (one mark is 1/8" at widest and other about 1/8" long x 3/16"); stitching around button holes are tight and nice; the leather straps on leggings are still pliable - not brittle at all; metal buttons are shiny - no rust or discoloration; wool has a herringbone pattern that doesn't show up in pics too well; NO moth holes, partial or otherwise; no real pilling on edges; velvet collar and pocket trims intact; beautiful lining with no stains or tears or discoloration; hem stitching completely intact; elastic in pants are still a bit stretchy, not bounce back (age); zippers work and shiny. I believe that the little girl who owned it, didn't wear it much - perhaps outfit was a bit small or confining and perhapswhy middle buttons are somewhat loose.
I don't remember where I found this. I never was much of a vintage clothing collector at all. I only bought this, around 25 years ago, because of the condition. I put it away in dry and dark storage away from moths and inside of a protective bag. It does not have odor. I ALWAYS try to cover everything but PLEASE contact me for any further details. Thank you!
