Description
Beautiful slag glass covered candy dish, or dresser jewelry box with lid. It's heart shaped, but also shaped like a butterfly with the body of the butterfly showing at the V of the heart to the wings down the sides. It has purple or amethyst swirl on the top, and on the bottom it appears blue (see labeled photos showing the bottom of the piece and the inside of the lid.
Each piece was hand created, so every one is a one-of-a-kind.
It still has a very old Label that reads: "PURPLE SLAG GLASS, Circa 1850, by Imperial" but all of these were made sometime in the 1970s I believe. They made many beautiful slag glass dishes that incorporated animals, bees and in this case butterflies.
Might be a very small flea bite or mold flaw on the mold line inside (see last 2 photos), so minor it's hardly noticeable but I try to mention everything. There are a lot of light reflection spots, so if you see something that looks like a flaw, you can view other photos of the same spot to tell the difference.
Please look at all the photos as I tried to get many views of this unique piece, including one with a small light inside to show the opacity.

Typical Flaws in Depression Glass and Pottery Disclosure
With Depression glassware and old pottery you will see typical flaws, which are to be expected, in the glass that don't impact the value. Flaws you could expect to see include:
Bubbles in the glass, or bubbles that popped along an edge that created a dimple
Open or Burst Bubbles at the surface of the glass.
Inclusions: Foreign material in the glass can be white, black and brown. These are usually minerals and ingredients of the glass that didn’t mix all the way.
Inconsistent coloring
Tool Marks, Flaws from the molds such as dips or straw marks.
In hand painted pieces you may find splashes of color where they didn't belong, which was from the artist who created the piece.
