Antique Forbes 1914 El Camino Real Bell Souvenir Mission California. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS First Class. This fabulous original bronze or brass souvenir of the El Camino California Mission Trail Bell stands about 9" tall and the base is 2 7/8 in diameter. Around the rim it reads El Camino Rea The Kings Highway. The plaque reads El Camino Real San Diego-Los Angeles-San Francisco. Around the stand are the words Mission Bell Guide Post Marking El Camino Real The Kings Highway. Under the base the markings read By Mrs. A S C Forbes and Design Patented Aug. 16, 1914. The bell has a lovely tinkling ring. The 700 mile El Camino Real linked California's chain of 21 missions, which were founded by Father Junipero Serra. The bells were first erected in the early 1900s. Mrs. Forbes was known as America's First Woman Bell Maker. Originally there were about 370 bells along El Camino Real.Bell is in excellent condition.
