Vintage Misc.
Purchased from an antiques market while in London, England. Incredible set of beautiful one-of-a-kind antique Austro-Hungarian jewelry in silver with turquoise and garnet. Festoon necklace and matching bracelet. There are small marks but I don't know what they are; however, the jeweler tested it for silver content and informed me that those are indeed turquoise and garnet stones. The detail and craftsmanship is amazing, both front and back, and the chains as well; this might actually be one of the most beautiful sets of jewelry I have ever come across. Complex design (see below) and possible aristocratic provenance. Stunning and rare and undoubtedly you will never see another set like this!
Shipping includes full insurance, hence higher shipping cost. :)
TYPE: 1 festoon necklace and 1 bracelet
DESIGNER: artisan name unknown but definitely handmade and very high end, very well made
MATERIALS: European antique-grade silver (between 830-900), and small turquoise and garnet stones
SIZE: Necklace is about 17.25" long including box clasp; bracelet is quite short, about 7.25" including both sides of box clasp (which would make it about 6.1" long when closed). pendant is about 2.2" long including dangle
HALLMARK OR OTHER MARKS: small marks and symbols on the back and inside of the clasps though I can't read them
AGE: Austro-Hungarian era (mid-1800's)
POSSIBLE PROVENANCE and DESIGN INFO: Some info about the possible provenance: the back of pendant has a different design stamped into the silver than the front. The front is a herald or symbol of a royal house with a motto that looks like "SAS LNG PRIMAS" and "SIGISM DA & PR." Anyone with real knowledge of heraldry could find out which house this symbol belonged to--there is a lion and a number of other complex heraldry symbols and it undoubtedly belonged to some aristocratic house. The back also has a different, separate symbol with what looks like a pope (?) or crowned figure holding a sceptre going through a lamb (?) and a shield--not sure--then lettering underneath that might be old gothic letters, possibly "io"?
CONDITION: Antique condition; soil and tarnish to silver, some wear consistent with age, some wear to bezel settings
I can accept paypal payments. Please pay in full within 48 hours. All payments must be in American dollar amounts. If any fees are involved in converting currency, you must pay them. Shipping turnaround times are long due to my disabilities, which can slow order processing. Non-paying bidder alerts are automatically filed for late payments. No cancellations and no returns; all items sold as is and as described.
Please understand that shipping/handling fees are not negotiable: Ebay and paypal both charge a percentage off the top of shipping fees. Packaging materials cost money--labels, bubble mailers, boxes, packing tape, bubble wrap, packing peanuts, printer ink cartridges. Most shipping costs are estimates because I do not have the time to pre-pack and weigh each and every item before shipping it out, but rest assured that I often lose money and do not profit on shipping.
The item will be shipped ONLY to your paypal name and address. All fragile or high-priced items are insured, hence a somewhat higher shipping cost. All items well-packed.
Media mail, parcel post, and international shipping all can take anywhere from 10-20 days to arrive, and priority sometimes can be more than 7 days during slow periods.
The shipping turnaround times on my auctions are slow because I am usually unable to get to the post office more than once a week. I am disabled, and I work full time, so please don't expect your item to be shipped lightning fast. Please ask about shipping rates if you wish to combine similar single purchases within a 24-hour period; rates may vary and I may not be able to combine certain items (especially large or fragile ones). I cannot combine shipping on multiple vinyl record purchases--they often break if they are shipped together.
YOUR BID IS AN ACCEPTANCE OF ALL TERMS, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO READ DESCRIPTIONS: I describe each item to the best of my ability and my knowledge; if I make a mistake, it is truly out of human error and I accept no liability as vintage identification involves a lot of guesswork. I have no time for hassles and prefer auctions to be an easy, friendly process! Vintage or used items are not pristine or perfect unless noted as such in the description, so please don't look for "mint" items here. Please ask questions BEFORE bidding as all sales are FINAL, unless otherwise noted. Please remember that your bid is a legally binding contract to purchase an item as per ebay rules and is actually enforceable (see ebay terms and conditions for more information). I do sometimes send out second chance offers if the winning bidder didn't pay. All legitimate offers will show up on your my ebay page. I appreciate courtesy and easy, friendly, professional transactions; rudeness is not welcome in any business transaction! Any feedback shilling, feedback blackmail, harassment, or other dishonest practise will be reported immediately to ebay. Please do not attempt to try to get your item for free. Non-paying bidders, harassing emails or attempts to pressure me into changing shipping costs after the fact will be reported as unwelcome bidders who violated auction terms. All other rules and notes on this page are included as part of the terms of sale that you are agreeing to when you bid on an item. I am selling off items from my personal collection to pay for student loans. If you are sympathetic, then feel free to bid! :)
SHIPPING COST INCLUDES TRACKING AND INSURANCE. VINTAGE "ODORS": I do not smoke or have pets in my home (I have asthma!) but all items are vintage and purchased from other dealers and therefore I cannot guarantee that they won't smell musty or smoky or whatever, because they are secondhand. VINTAGE ITEMS HAVE WEAR: Any and all vintage items may have storage soil and wear to finish, small nicks and fleabites or scratches to glass or stones, tarnish, patina, verdigris or rust spots, worn maker's marks, slightly loose parts, and so on. Vintage items are not perfect and you must accept this if you wish to bid. Items have not been cleaned unless otherwise noted. I will go out of my way to note significant damage in description but I usually don't bother selling items that are "broken" unless they have some special value as such. All items are used vintage or antique unless otherwise noted. I CANNOT GUARANTEE METAL CONTENT UNLESS IT WAS TESTED: I usually do not pay to have gold or silver tested when it has hallmarks; items have only been tested for metal content if noted in description. Therefore, I DO NOT guarantee metal content, sorry. I do not guarantee the meaning of any marks on any pieces because I have no way of verifying them especially if they're old as I can't afford to pay for a COA on everything I have to sell; I can only guess based on the marks. You are paying for what I am selling as an object so please pay close attention to photos. Thanks for looking!
