    Description

Large gravy boat and its shuttle in solid silver, rich Regence style decoration with a grimacing satyr mask.
    circa 1900
Work of the Maison Jules Piault, active between 1856 and 1907 before being taken over by the Linzeler house.
It bears the Minerva 1st Title hallmark (950/1000) and the J. Piault signature written in full.
In addition to its decorative qualities of very great silverware (the grimacing satyr mask is quite remarkable), our sauce boat is of great interest due to the coat of arms in relief which are present on the side (which means that it is a manufacture of great luxury, a mold made exclusively for a family, even better than a piece of silverware which would have been engraved, personalized for a family with an engraved coat of arms).
Unsurprisingly, the provenance is very prestigious: it bears the arms of the Lannes de Montebello family under a double Ducal crown, made around 1900 for the descendants of Marshal of the Empire Jean Lannes, hero of the Empire, who died in the Battle of 'Essling in 1809.
Beautiful model, very heavy (almost twice as much as a standard sauce boat, this piece was not made “economy”), remarkable carving work, it is a luxury model.
Excellent condition, no dents, no scratches, silver still well polished.
    Weight: 777g
    Length: 22.5cm
    Diameter: 18cm
