Promotional view book (4 ½” by 5 ¾”) for Fresno County, California, published by the Chamber of Commerce of Fresno County and printed by the Evening Democrat Print of Fresno, circa 1900. The booklet is not dated, but I found a reference to the year being 1900 in the text. The front cover has the title Fresno County, California, printed in a stylized banner wrapped around a bunch of grapes. The inside cover has a map of California showing the location of Fresno County. The first several pages discuss the location, climate, and agricultural production, with illustrations of vineyards, farm fields, and irrigation systems. The next section gives more detail about grape and citrus production with illustrations of fields and orchards, followed by a few pages on the dairy industry, alfalfa and wheat cultivation, and cattle grazing. The last several pages discuss the growing oil industry, lumber production, electric power, and manufacturing. The last couple of pages discuss labor and education. The inside rear cover gives reasons to locate in Fresno County. These sections all include many illustrations, thirty plus I think. The little view book is in good or better condition with only light wear and soiling. A nice little piece of Fresno CA history!
